CARDAMOM
Amomum cardamomum
This plant grows to 15 feet. It needs the warm tropics to make seeds, but, even though we must buy our cardamom seeds, we can certainly enjoy the spicy scent of the leaves. Cardamom likes it shady and moist and is frost tender. It grows well in the house with adequate light.
Cardamom grows in filtered shade with its roots continually wet. It needs constant moisture and aconstant temperature around 72ºF (22ºC) is best. Cardamom suffers at temperatures below 50ºF (10ºC).
